Beach towns, river towns and race weeks
Volusia has two sides. On the coast you have Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Port Orange and New Smyrna Beach, where a lot of work follows tourists and the big event weeks at the Speedway and on the beach. Inland, Deltona, DeLand and Orange City are quieter, and plenty of people there drive toward Sanford or Orlando for work.
Hotel, restaurant and event jobs can be busy one month and slow the next, often without a group plan. Students at Stetson in DeLand and Embry-Riddle in Daytona, winter residents, and people who retired before 65 all shop here too. An ACA Marketplace plan is the usual starting point.

Florida Health Care Plans and Health First each sold in only five Florida counties in 2026, and Volusia was one of them. Florida Blue's plans here were EPO, POS and PPO, with no HMO, while the other six sold HMOs and Florida Health Care Plans also had POS plans. Halifax Health, AdventHealth and your network
Halifax Health in Daytona Beach is the hospital system many people here name first. AdventHealth also runs several hospitals around the county, from DeLand and Orange City to Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach.
Networks are set plan by plan. Before you enroll, look up your doctors and the hospital you'd use in that exact plan's directory, then call to confirm. A company name tells you nothing about which hospitals a plan uses.
Students and winter residents
If you're under 26, you can usually stay on a parent's plan. If you're under 30, a Catastrophic plan is an option, and in 2026 Health First and Wellpoint sold them here. Winter residents buy where their main home is. If Volusia is home, you shop here, and if you'll be away for months, ask how a plan covers routine care out of state.

Marketplace prices depend on age, ZIP and income. A tax credit can lower them, and our subsidies page shows how much of your income you're expected to pay.
HPG is fixed indemnity, not full health insurance. It pays set amounts, like $100 per specialist visit on Select 2000, whatever the bill. It has no out-of-pocket maximum, isn't minimum essential coverage, and asks health questions.
