Living in one county, working in another

A lot of Broward commutes. You might live in Miramar and work in Miami-Dade, or live in Coral Springs and drive up to Boca Raton. Your Marketplace plan is based on where you live, but you may want doctors near your job. Most plans here are HMOs, so check that the network reaches both places.

Plenty of people in Broward have no plan from work: hotel and restaurant staff, people in the marine trades around Fort Lauderdale, real estate agents, rideshare drivers, early retirees who aren't 65 yet. For them the Marketplace is the usual way to get full coverage, often with a tax credit. If you split the year between Broward and another state, read how a plan handles care away from home before you pick it.

22 Health is the name people here don't know. In 2026 it sold Marketplace plans in just one Florida county, and that county was Broward. Outside Florida Blue, which had PPO, POS and EPO plans, and Cigna, which also had EPO plans, everything here was an HMO. Platinum came only from Florida Blue and AvMed. Wellpoint had the only Catastrophic option. Lists can change for 2027.

ACA Marketplace

ACA prices depend on your income and age. Run the form to see your exact prices with your tax credit.

Be clear on what HPG is. It's fixed indemnity insurance: Preferred 4000 pays $100 per doctor visit and $4,000 per hospital day, and you owe whatever the bill is beyond that. There's no out-of-pocket maximum, it isn't minimum essential coverage and you answer health questions to get it. An ACA plan covers far more. Compare them on ACA vs fixed indemnity.
